At the moment I am not at my home in Virginia to check the title or no. or
format of my videos. But I do know for absolutely certain that I own a video
of Celi conducting the Bruckner 7th with the Berlin Philharmonic in the
Schauspielhaus in Berlin, now renamed Konzerthaus, -- I believe it was 1992.
The video first shows rehearsal segments, including Celi getting a bit
emotional when he mentions to the the orchestra his own beginnings as a
conductor with the BPO in 1945 (none of the BPO members of that time are
still in the orchestra now, of course). The rehearsal is followed by the
performance in which Richard von Weizsaecker (then President of the German
Federal Republic) made some opening remarks. I believe my copy is in PAL. I
wil return from Germany on Monday and will be able to look up the details of
the video, if anyone would like to have a follow-up.
